Why can't I reserve temple work after my ancestor has turned 110?
This happens because the automated FamilySearch system doesn’t always release names right away after someone passes the 110-year mark. Even though your ancestor is old enough, their ordinances may still appear locked due to a delay in FamilySearch’s automated system.
Quick fix
You can fix this by making a small edit to the birth date on the ancestor’s profile. This will cause FamilySearch to immediately re-process the ancestors ordinance status and recognize they've passed the 110 year mark:
- Open the ancestor in FamilySearch
- Edit the birth date
- Make a minor change, such as adjusting the date format or re-saving the same date with different spacing or punctuation.
- Save
This prompts FamilySearch to re-check the birthdate, and the ordinances are usually released shortly after.
If it still doesn’t work
Give it a little time, refresh the profile, or try another small formatting change. If you aren't able to get the ordinance status to change, you'll need to contact FamilySearch support to manually release the ordinances.
